Karen graduated from Auburn University in 1980 with a degree in Early Childhood Education and taught school in Birmingham for 12 years. She married Paul Barganier (family practice dentistry) in 1982. They have lived in Birmingham ever since, and they have 3 children: Reed, 21, and a student at Auburn; Becca(our dancer), 16, a rising junior at Vestavia Hills High School; and Callie(our cheerleader),12, who will be in the 7th grade this year. Since "retiring" from teaching, she has become an involved PTA mom and substitute teaches from time to time. She enjoys painting, running, gardening, attending her children's activities, going to the beach and to Auburn football games!
